what are you doing?

PEOPLE...its New Years Eve :) im about to go out and find a nice little outfit to dress up in tonight. this year im heading to richmond, va with friends to bring in the new year...virginia style. actually this will be my first new year's celebration in the south, i have been going away either back home or to michigan the last couple years :)
alright...now its time to be cliche' and ask: "what are you doin' New Years...New Years Eve???"

i hope everyone has a super duper weekend :)

alright, i have to share my excitement.
when kenny and i first started dating for my birthday his parents bought me an awesome fossil purse.
i used this fossil bag to the bone...i mean its looking pretty ratty these days.
i've had it for over two years now.
this christmas...
drum roll please...
yep...i got a new one :)
for all the wear and tear that my purses have to endure,
fossil has withstood the best.
thank you mr. and mrs. A for this wonderful new purse :)

I hope everyone is having an awesome friday
cheers to the weekend!!

just because...

just because i was always a total dork when i was little...

yeeep. im the one with the hot glasses. i rocked glasses from preschool til...well...now. i hated them when i was little but since i started wearing them at such a young age my eyes have actually corrected themselves quite a bit. i still have to wear them but only for driving at night, reading and seeing things long distance. i don't even have to deal with contacts! anyway, i just wanted to share a blast from the past and a cheers to my glasses, for now i have totally come to appreciate wearing them :)

so to be completely random...my knee is KILLING me. its almost as if it can sense that i am planning on going to the gym in the morning. i mean...really? it never hurts. long story short, in high school i was diagnosed with osgood schlatters disease (sounds like a big deal because of the word "disease" attached, but it really isn't too bad.) in the simplest words: my left knee cap does not move straight up and down like it should, when straightening my leg it moves up like it should but up and over to the side a bit. boohoo. to read more you can CLICK HERE. :) so basically i have to wear a knee brace whenever working out or doing sports related things...
do i actually wear the brace?
heck no.
its ugly.

well...thanks for listening to todays ramblings my friends.

PS. you should probably grab a button to help promote this super awesome blog of mine..i added some new ones :) just sayin...

hangin on

is it bad that i want to hang onto Christmas?
i feel like Christmas and all the spectacular Christmas(y) things have just passed by way too quickly.
k. im done.
i apologize ahead of time if i blog anything "Christmas" in next next few days.
because i probably will.
and i have given myself permission to hold on to Christmas until the new year :)

haha. so after my weekend home with family i traveled back down to VA to my little humble abode. the past two days i have unpacked, and got back into the hustle and bustle of running errands and....work.

good news: 3 day weekend this week for New Years!

I am in desperate need to go grocery shopping and my gym is now open which means--I NEED TO GO!

I hope everyone had a wonderful wednesday and remembered to smile :)
(multiple sites via google)

from my family, to yours...

what's up!?!
it's been...a few days.
days filled with traveling
days filled with family visits
days filled with catching up with friends
days filled with simply just good old relaxation.

i had an amazing time at home for Christmas!
i wanted to share a little look into what a "murphy" Christmas entails:
first: of course you need to see our tree :)

second: Christmas eve. with my family that means, oysters, lights and carols

{kinda hard to get this picture...but this is my favorite house and every year when we drive by looking at the lights, they always have a Christmas party going on inside...love it.}
CHISTMAS DAY: well... Christmas day is presents, food, family, food, laughter, food....food!
we all sqeeze in my grandparents house at a table that...yes...takes up more than one room :)

games in between gifts and eating!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas...and Merry Christmas from my family, to yours!

until next time...

Merry Christmas!

i hope everyone is having a wonderful Christmas!

i went to my parent's church this morning for a Christmas morning worship service. One of our old pastors came to speak and talked about mary, and how she traveled so far when she was nine months pregnant with Jesus. this year, on many occasions, through friends and church i learned new things about the Christmas story. If you have never read the Christmas story, i encourage you to do so! it is a story of faith, love and mercy: a story about a wonderful gift that God sent for us.

Luke 2:4-21

Christmas List

FIRST OFF, let me just say that I absolutely looove giving gifts, and this year i had more money to spend than the last...4 years. haha, thanks to the poor life of a college kid. needless to say i have had a TON of fun shopping for gifts this year because i wasn't worried about a tight budget :) i've already said that i love giving gifts but i'm not trying to hide the fact that i also love receiving. (lets all be honest, all jokes aside, and admit that receiving a gift is actually a great feeling!)

i asked for some pretty random but also very practical things this year
things that i like/need but are pretty practical. nothing too special :)
take a look:

new sperrys :) these would be perfect for work!
 a camelbak water bottle

target gift cards! (in order to put money towards buying my next item and because i just love target.)
i would love to purchase, with christmas money, a new one of these bad boys. the sound on my ipod no longer works :( my roommate just go a white one and that was my deciding factor. ill need one anyway for when i go to the gym-gotta have jams while working out!
annnd...this is my strangest gift. let me explain via short story: my house is heated by a heat pump which makes our electric bill through the roof in the winter. we're talking $200 a month for a two bedroom, one story duplex. HOLY COW, right? so this is my attempt at saving money in the winter months :)

other than these gifts there were a few books on my list, other small items and of course clothing and gift cards. I hope everyone is having a wonderful Christmas eve week! does that makes sense? no...but who cares, i like it.

only 3 days until Christmas!
have a holly jolly day :)

so instead of blogging this is what i am doing: making sweet treats to give to kenny's family for Christmas.

don't worry im going to show you what were making :)

take a look...

/i know...they all look super yummy. you better believe that they are!! i just want to quickly say that i am not going to guarantee much blog action this weekend. i'll be with my family and quality time with the people i love comes first :) dont get your panties in a bunch though...ill be back and im sure ill have PLENTY of things to share!

until next time...

a great monday

yesterday was a great monday! i had a nice day at work and then went to celebrate a friends birthday (kenny's roommate/shalie's boyfriend, josh) at kenny's house. it was a lot of fun, and nice to just hang out with friends :) time for LOTS of pictures!!! :)

there was a ton of different finger foods, and dips
first it took some preparation

then some eating!!
then some time by the fire, hot chocolate included!!
and lastly, some birthday cake. and yes that is in a bowl-its not traditional birthday cake, its a 7 layer cake, made by shalie of course! it was delish :)

wasn't i right? looks like a lot of fun, huh. it was!!

I hope everyone is having a great week so far :)

15 randoms.

so i was just blog browsing today and came across lowercase letters. annd just like everyone else does in this blogger world, i "borrowed" this idea:

1. What's a nickname only your family calls you?my sister calls me "er", my mom: sweet erin/girl, annnd kenny calls me "e"
2. What's a weird habit of yours?
i always shut things off. haha, also i like to start getting ready way ahead of time for things, that way its more relaxing. example: i get up 2 hours before i have to be at work (even though i only live 5 mins away) and im always at work at least 15-20 minutes early. it was the same way when i was taking classes.
3. Do you have any weird phobias?
nothing too out of the ordinary. i dont like creepy crawly things...the normal spiders and snakes.
4. What's a song you secretly LOVE to blast; belt out when you're alone?
why would i secretly love a song?? im always whistling or humming something :)
5. What's one of your biggest pet peeves?
seeing younger children at the store/movies or where ever when they should most definitely be in bed. is the movie that important for you to see, mom? and there is on recent pet peeve.  there is a girl a work who pronounces  a few words totally incorrectly. i. can't. stand. it.
6. What's one of your nervous habits?
tapping my foot or hand.
7. What side of the bed do you sleep on?
if your facing the bed it would be the left side. but that changes from time to time
8. What was your first stuffed animal; it's name?
i dont have any stuffed animals except for the build a bear kenny bought for me a few years ago...guess there is no contest there!
9. What's the drink you ALWAYS order at starbucks?
nonfat chai. i prefer iced over hot and and extra pump of chai. does that make me sound like a drink snob?? yikes...
10. What is your middle name?
11. Which way do you face in the shower?
im starting to think this survey is asking pretty silly questions
12. Do you have any 'weird' body 'skills'?
both of my shoulders are double jointed. no...i will not post of picture of what it looks like when i put my arms around my head.
13. What's your favorite 'comfort food'/food thats 'bad' but you love to eat it anyways?
mac and cheese. without a doubt.
14. What's a phrase or exclamation you always say?
im not sure...i would have to take a poll from friends/family on that one.
15. Time to sleep- what are you ACTUALLY wearing?
yoga pants and a t shirt...winter comfys!

hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!!
and i do have to share at least one picture :)
