the paleo diet to be exact...and tomorrow i'm starting it.
i'm not looking to lose weight,
i'm looking to have healthier eating habits.
so here is the basic scoop [nerdfitness]:

  • Meat – GRASS-FED, not grain-fed…which causes the same problem in animals as they do in humans
  • Fowl - chicken, duck, hen, turkey…things with wings that (try to) fly.
  • Fish – wild fish, not farmed fish, as mercury and other toxins can be an issue
  • Eggs - look for Omega-3 enriched eggs
  • Vegetables – as long as they’re not deep fried, eat as many as you want
  • Oils – olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil – think natural
  • Fruits – have natural sugar, and can be higher in calories, so limit if you’re trying to lose weight
  • Nuts – high in calories, so they’re good for a snack, but don’t eat bags and bags of them
  • Seeds - same as nuts, can be high in calories
  • Tubers – sweet potatoes, yams.  Higher in calories and carbs, so these are good for right after a workout to replenish your glycogen levels.

so basically i'm looking to eat in a healthier way,
and feel satisfied with what i eat.
i'm doing something for myself.
i'm going to try and keep it simple,
and feel much better and energized each day!
i think the hardest part of this will be nixing pasta and bread.
oh gosh...and i love sweets. this will be rough.
starting tomorrow and for the entire month of june,
i will be eating paleo.

i. can. do it.

i won't be all over the place writing about this change,
BUT i will give random updates :)
tonight: food shopping.
time to prepare!!

i know, my "we'll talk tomorrow" ending my last post didnt really come true.
oooh opps.

what am i doing with my life?
who knows...
but really, wishing i was enjoying my summer everyday instead of just on the weekend.
waaah. waaah. waaah.
"été" is summer in french...i mean c'est la vie is french so i figure why not add to the theme today...
and no, im not complaining about my job. i am thankful for it.
but lets be serious, everyone wishes they could have the entire summer off. even the rainy days.

okay, so not to completely ignore my promise: lets talk emily.
from watching the first two episodes, id say im pretty pleased so far. oh course there is less DRAMA than usual but i actually appreciate a break from the trashy stuff (aka bachelor, aka courtney/girls throwing themselves at a man). so here is who i think will make it to the final four (all images via ABC):

--jeff: she has something for him, i can tell by the way she talks/looks at him...even though he looks 18. you have to give him credit for being a CEO of his own company though...

--arie: lets face it, he is a race car driver and he is cute. she is going to keep him around AT LEAST for the fact of the race car connection. he does seem like a sweetie so far...
--chris: i personally hate the side smile...but she seems to like him (she picks him for a 1 on 1 in week 3, as shown in preview by
--sean: why sean? well we havent really seen too much of him BUT i wanted to add a blondie into the mix and there is always randomly one of the quiet guys who makes it pretty far, so sean is my pick!

so that so far is my recap...and im kinda excited now to see how long my guys will last since i have officially put my final four picks out there. bring on week 3!

hope your thursday isn't dragging out as much as mine!

a look into my weekend

this weekend was...
but awesome.
friday night we had a little get together for kenny's birthday
... complete with a pinata!

on sunday, kenny and i road tripped to charlottesville for the day
and then cam home to this...

shalie bought a puppy!!
its been in the works the last couple weeks but she is so ADORABLE!
like a little teddy bear

she is smaller than my face!!
puppy love for sure.

my weekend was packed and tiring,
but so much fun at the same time.

don't for get this girl is on tonight:

we'll chat tomorrow...

cheers :)

chhheeeeeeeeeerrrrsss to the freakin' weekend.

so here' my weekend plans:
i can't tell you.
at least not yet :)
that's what monday is for!

one thing i can tell you is that im officially becoming a virginia resident over the weekend.
transferring my car title
getting a new license (which btw, they don't allow you to smile for. lame.).
getting new license plates.

i guess it will be a real goodbye to new jersey for now.
:( <- that IS a sad face.

i do truly have a packed weekend ahead
and will be starting my weekend in 3.5 hours.
in all regards,
have the best weekend possible.
be back monday :)

kate's graduation

time for a overload of pictures...are you ready?!
on saturday, may12, 2012, my little sis graduated with her B.S. in Psycology and minor in Special Ed.
graduation started bright and early...well it didn't really start bright and early.
BUT we arrived bright and early to get a decent seat for commencement: 7:30am.

and since we were there so early, we got to watch the snipers set up.
yep. just keep on reading...
patiently waiting and trying to pass time before commencement begins.
finally the graduates started filing in!
(insert processional music here)
 about halfway through...this took forever!
i kate to stand up and wave for a picture from across the field
truett cathy was there-bless this man for inventing chick-fil-a!
gov. mitt romney was the commencement speaker.
hence the snipers...and there was secret service as well.
he actually did a really great job!

kate receiving her "diploma" from her departmental ceremony after commencement.
her real diploma is actually mailed to her.
YAY! i'm so proud of her!
we were BURNING up! it was a hot day, and hot days call for pretty hilarious get-ups to avoid the sun!

congrats kate :) im so proud of you!
it was a great day of celebration with family and friends

hope everyone is having a great week so far
