throw back thursday, halloween edition.

you guys...i really do like halloween. i grew up dressing up every year, and got laughed at when i said that i wanted to dress up this year to hand out candy. this is the first year i get to officially hand out candy. one of my favorite halloween's was in college, back in my brunette days. kenny and i dressed up in a couples costume, "deal or no deal". and if you haven't seen the show, take a sneak peak: on youtube. kenny was the show's host, and i was a case girl...holding the million dollar case??

hope you get lots of treats today!

all things anthro

i love anthropologie. and i love the sale section at anthropologie even more because it turns "i can't afford that" into "i can totally afford that!". so last night i scoured the anthro website...just the clothing sale section...and came up with some favs. all of which are under $50. all of which i am not buying because i don't necessarily need to add any more clothes to my closet, but hey, a girl can want and adore, right? [please excuse the picture alignment...wasn't going to fight blogger today].

seriously. get in my closet.

i don't know about everyone else out there, but is has been crazy dreary outside here...since mondayish. rain, wind, cloudy. no sun. oh sun, where are you? this weather just makes me want to get cozy with a cup of coffee or tea, grab a blanket, cuddle up and watch movies. o know i talked about the possibility of posting pictures from our weekend up north...but we had like...not very many good ones. most pictures actually had at least one or two people blinking. im sure you'll be able to see from the pictures that it was a very bright day! we really did have a great time, and it was so nice to get away for the weekend. next time we will have to check out the leelanau peninsula, i love exploring the mitten state and i haven't been there yet!

hope you are seeing a little more sunlight than we are :)

over this past weekend, we went up north with a group of friends for a weekend away. i actually brought my camera along and took some pictures, but haven't loaded any on my computer yet. so i just wanted to share some that i took on my phone-because there are always pictures from my iphone :)

//cute michigan hands onesie with a baseball glove for the "mitten"-detriot tigers colors, of course//erica and kelly chillin at a trendy coffee shop we stopped at for warm cider//2 lads winery view//& another 2 lads winery view with the lake in the distance// grand traverse chateau winery view--probably my fav view!//

ill be back with more pictures from the weekend!

just hangin

as i type, floors are being installed in our house. i really don't think i can type our how excited i am about having floors!! some of my extended family was in town over the weekend, so on saturday we headed downtown for a HUGE art fair called ArtPrize, that they have in grand rapids every fall. kenny and i had already gone downtown once to check it out, but there really is so much to look at, so i was not opposed to going to take a second look! i love walking around downtown and exploring what is still sort of a new city to me. i didn't take too many pictures but  have a couple to share (above)! the first is a picture of what we termed "live art". it may actually be the real term, or in other words just a street performer. they were all over the place! the second picture is hard to make out, but its a huge dragon made of what i would call "junk yard materials" but it was super cool because it was fire breathing! can't beat a fire breathing dragon! i'm not sure if i'll be back before the weekend, but hopefully ill have a photo dump next week of house updates AND our weekend up north!

october updates

here we are, days into october already. as i have been catching up in the blogging world, i have noticed a common theme on october first; "how is it october already?". october brings a number of things to me, including: a house painted, new floors, finally moving into our master bedroom, the start of a break in house updates, 4 months of marriage (seriously?!), a weekend away with friends, and of course the explosion of all things pumpkin!

we have a tri-level house, so that means at the front door we walk into the main floor with a living area, kitchen, and dining area. there is a stair case that takes you either upstairs or downstairs. upstairs there is a master bedroom, second bedroom, and full bathroom. downstairs there is a family room, third bedroom and second full bathroom. we also have a basement. Our house was built in the 90's, and everything is original (why, why, why would you pick salmon colored counter tops?), except the carpet downstairs which is still in good condition. that being said, the bones of this house are in great shape, and we only need to update cosmetic features. since it is only kenny and i, we decided to just go ahead and live downstairs and pile all of our stuff in the basement and family room so that we could paint and replace the floors on the main floor and upstairs. we are finally almost done painting! once the paint is done (the plan is by friday, which is tomorrow) we will get the new floors installed! i cannot wait! it will be so nice to be able to live in the whole house! i plan on saving as much money as i can with decorating, so that will just be done little by little (and when i find good deals!).

so, after we ripped out the carpet, this is what our house has looked like before any painting happened:

(the dark wood on the floor under the counter in the picture above will be our new floors!!)

annd last but not least: where we have been living since august in the picture below (our couches have been great fill in closets! ha!):

i cant wait to give the update pictures in about a week! but what i really can't wait for is to move out of the downstairs finally!

have a great thursday :)
