lake michigan coast

so when my parents came to visit memorial day weekend we planned to take up a trip up the lake michigan coast. they have never been able to explore michigan much and the weather was pretty much perfect the whole time they were visiting! we first stopped at the beach in holland, michigan, briefly on memorial day and walked out on the pier to watch some of the yachts come in and out of the bay onto the lake (pictures above and below this paragraph). the next morning we headed up to sleeping bear dunes national park. there really isn't any picture that i could take to justify how the dunes look in person, just keep in mind that they are like 1000 ft tall! the day was unfortunately a bit foggy so we couldn't see far out onto lake michigan but nonetheless it was still beautiful to look at! i would definitely suggest visiting this spot if you are in the west side of michigan. we then drove through traverse city and around the traverse bay and ended up in charlevoix, michigan. it was the perfect pit stop that has a quaint downtown to walk through, and a beach to check out. we even saw a little duck family off the lighthouse pier! we made it up to mackinaw city that evening for dinner and checked in our hotel. the next post will be able our day on mackinac island, stay tuned!
